  21e Festival

The opening ceremony of the 21st edition was definitely marked by Undercover, a short film by French director Olivier Ayache-Vidal where an actor pops out amidst the audience to interact with the actors on the screen. Quite a stunning and amazing performance by actor Arnaud Delalande!

The matinees dedicated to young audiences and the in-school Cinécole project attracted nearly 4,600 sutdents of Abitibi-Témiscamingue with film projections and workshops on filmmaking trades. Once again those activities brought several thousand children together to see good quality short and medium-length films and familiarize with the Art of Cinema.

The Nocturnes of the 21st edition will be remembered by the incredible performance of the Belgian musical improv group Les DisCjoncteurs. A typically Abitibi evening and an international evening were held concurrently to the Festival within the framework of the Naturallia International Forum.

About one hundred guests honored our invitation to attend the event, including Robert Morin, René-Daniel Dubois and Robin Aubert (Le Nèg'), Michel Jetté, Emmanuel Auger, Dominic Darceuil, Michèle Péloquin and Paul Dion (Histoire de Pen), Éric Savin (Squash), as well as Rosa Zacharie and Isabel Richer (Une éclaircie sur le fleuve), Mario Mandujano (Tiro de gracia).

The first Espace Vidéo was considered a sheer success. Arising from a collaborative initiative with the Racamés international, Espace Vidéo attracted many guests. Film directors of Abitibi-Témiscamingue and elsewhere, as well as several hundreds of video enthusiasts met at Bar-Lounge Le Post-Moderne to watch five sessions of less conventional film productions.
