Michael Rowe
Michael Rowe is an Australian script writer and producer. He first studied English Literature, and started a career in poetry. At 23, he made Mexico his home. From 1998 to 2009, while he was working as a journalist, he joined a script writing workshop given by Vicente Leñero. In 2005, one of his first scripts, "Naturaleza Muerta", was awarded by the Mexican Institute of Cinematography. In 2006, he produced his first short film, "Cacahuates", followed by "Silencio", in 2007.
Although his mother tongue is English, he has produced the major part of his work in Spanish. In 2010, Rowe directed "Leap Year" ("Año Bisiesto"), which won him a Golden Camera at Cannes. In 2013, his second feature film, "The Well" ("Manto Acuifero"), premiered at the International Rome Film Festival. That same year, Rowe announced he was working on a first English-language film; "Early Winter".
