Just before starting a literature degree at university, Victoire is upset after reading a book written by Gervais Messiandre. She has a sexual encounter with Pierre, a friend of hers, but the experience leaves her unsatisfied. Messiandre is invited to lecture at the university where he meets Victoire and begins a love affair with her. He leaves her soon after to return to his wife and children. Happy with this experience, Victoire resumes her relationship with Pierre.
