Rain fell heavily on Montreal causing a spectacular collapse of Percival-Molson Stadium during a football match. Within a few hours, the stadium became a protected archaeological site. The Mohawk archaeologist, Baptiste Asigny, undertook excavations that lead him to the discovery of past generations that had occupied this place. He was therefore determined to find the village of Hochelaga, where his Iroquoian ancestors encountered Jacques Cartier in1535. François Girard is a Canadian filmmaker who breaks free of conventions by working in various artistic genres; his projects have received more than 80 international awards. The Oscar-winning Le violon rouge (1998), became a major figure in world cinema. In addition to his work in film, he has been involved in television adaptations, museum installations and has received theatre awards.
