When Gérard discovers a dead raccoon in his backyard, the old man finds himself strangely upset and confronted with his own disappearance. Obsessed with the dead animal, Jocelyne feels her man's despair growing, a feeling that curiously resonates within her. After a night of reflection, they decide to bury the raccoon on the land of their former home in Joutel, a mining ghost town that has been closed since 1998. Once on the site, which now looks more like a ruin than a boreal forest, Jocelyne is deeply nostalgic. It is there, during a morbid picnic to bury the animal, that they will meet a mystical being who will guide them to make peace with their inner demons.
