Biographie

Boris Lojkine

A graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure and holder of an agrégation in philosophy, Boris Lojkine wrote his thesis on the subject of Crisis and History, and decided to leave the university.He left for Vietnam, where he had previously lived and learned the language, to experience adventure. There, he made two documentary films, Ceux qui restent (2001) and Les Âmes errantes (2005), which tell the Vietnamese story of the impossible mourning of people whose lives have been torn apart by war. With Hope (2014), his first feature film, he switches continents to immerse himself in the Africa of migrants. Presented at Critics' Week in Cannes, it has won dozens of awards at international festivals. L'histoire de Souleymane is his third film.
