Algeria, 1954. While the rebellion rumbles in the valley, two very different men thrown together by a world in turmoil are forced to flee together across the Atlas mountains. In the midst of an icy winter, Daru, the reclusive teacher, has to escort Mohamed, a villager accused of murder. Pursued by horsemen seeking summary justice and vengeful settlers, the two men decide to confront the unknown. Together they fight to gain their freedom.

Biographie

David Oelhoffen

Born in 1968, David Oelhoffen worked for several years in film production before writing and directing his first short film, Le Mur. He then went on to direct four further short films including En mon absence and Sous le bleu. In 2006, he directed his first feature length film, Nos retrouvailles. In 2013, he directed Far From Men which is based on Albert Camus’ short story, L’Hôte, and which stars Viggo Mortensen and Reda Kateb. David Oelhoffen is currently working on other scripts and is also preparing a new feature length film.
