Some in the flesh, others while traveling down memory lane: his childhood in the 1960s, his life in Madrid in the 1980s, his first and subsequent love stories, the mother, death, and actors with whom he worked. The inability to separate creation and private life. And emptiness-- the unfathomable emptiness in the face of the inability to continue filming.

Biographie

Pedro Almodóvar

Spanish director and screenwriter Pedro Almodóvar made his first feature film Pepi, Luci, Bom et autres filles du quartier in 1980 and established the production company El Deseo with his brother Agustín, in 1986. Then in 1988, Femmes au bord de la crise de nerfs gave him international fame. During his career, he won numerous awards, including the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film for Tout sur ma mère (1999) and that of Best Original Screenplay for Parle avec elle (2002). In recent years, he has directed Les amants passagers (2013) and Julieta (2016).

About the festival

A true celebration of cinema and all its forms of expression, the Festival welcomes more than 150 productions from some 30 countries, including short, medium and full-length features, documentaries, animated films, and fiction films. The Festival puts on quite a show, year after year!
