This film follows the destinies of David and his daughter, Laurence. The story starts in 1978, in a Lower St-Lawrence village, where Guy's tragic shakes the Leblanc family. For many years, the cause of his death is hidden from certain family members, notably his son David, who, in time, goes on to start a family of his own with Marie, his wife. He raises his children, Laurence and Frédéric, with all his love, but he bears a persistent melancholia. "Les Êtres Chers" is a film about family love, secrets, transmission, and redemption.
